Bell Tower

Bells that still hang in the tower have been calling people of Highworth for almost three centuries. Of the total of eight bells, five are dated 1689, the other three being dated 1717,1766 and 1898. Some of the bells were recast in 1898 and some in 1951.

The bells were recorded in February 2001 by Nick, the short audio clip was edited from a 10 minute recording called 'Yorkshire Surprise Major'.

In 2013 the 7th bell was rehung - click here for information on that.

The bellringers ring regularly on Sundays from 9.45am-10.15am.
Practice is on Thursdays 8.00pm-9.00pm.

The two clocks on the north and west side of the tower were erected in the memory of those brave men of the parish of Highworth who died in the Second World War of 1939-1945.
