Re-ordering Project

After over a decade in the planning, Acting Deputy Chancellor Mark Ruffell granted a faculty and gave directions for the re-ordering works in St Michael's Church in October 2016. The judgement may be read in full here

A new team was then set up to oversee the building work and external works finally commenced on April 23rd 2018. The church family  was also tasked with the mammoth task of clearing the building of all its contents. It was a great opportunity to have a good sort out and we found enough to fill four skips for disposal and found good homes for many items that were no longer needed.

The pews are currently in storage as we were required by the Deputy Chancellor to retain them for 36 months, unless they were required by another church. If you are interested in obtaining one of the pews please contact the Church Office for more details or to reserve one for collection from October 2019 onwards.

The church building closed to the public following the Highworth Choral Society's concert on 12th May 2018 and our weekly 10.15am service will be held in St Michael's Hall for the duration of the works. The 8am service and all other services will be held in the Church Room.

Please revisit this page as we aim to update it weekly with photographs of how the work is progressing.
