The tabard was believed worn by Capt Batsford cc.September 1646
when there was an attack on the church. The cannon ball mark is still
visible to the left hand side of the west door. The war continued 1644
to 1647 and Thomas Batsford later became Captain Batsford who most
likely wore this garment as a young boy, he died in 1709.
A schedule of restoration shows the steps to completion.
A report on the conservation treatment of the Tabard by Alison Lister
(Senior Conservator/Co-Director) 20th May 2007 is available.
Additional photo's showing the surface cleaning of the garment are
also available. Tabard shown mounted in South Trancept.
