We call ourselves “7ies”, and we believe we are called by God.

To build a new and growing commmunity within St Michael's who are encouraged to know their gifts and serve:

Churches have traditionally assumed that mission starts with the church. In other words, you serve God through serving the church. At 7ies, we believe that God’s mission happens within and outside of the church. Many Christians today feel called to a personal mission rather than the mission of the church and 7ies seeks to provide these people the support of Christian community, an opportunity for regular corporate worship, and resources for personal mission.

Scripture bears witness to this. Each of us has a God given passion for a particular mission. This passion is God’s heart in us made alive. It is not our job to steer, but to help discover and encourage.

Christ empowered us to be his mission to the world through spiritual gifts.
We believe that every believer has gifts and everything we do, whether that be in support of 7ies or in our personal mission, should be empowered in this way.
We could work in our own strength... or we can work in his!

Not just an alternative place for existing church members, but an invitation for people who today don’t belong to a worshipping community, to experience Jesus Christ afresh.

Your passion, your mission, your service:

Churches have traditionally assumed that mission starts with the church.  In other words, you serve God through serving the church. At 7ies, we believe that God’s mission happens within and outside of the church.  Many Christians today feel called to a personal mission rather than the mission of the church and 7ies seeks to provide these people the support of Christian community, an opportunity for regular corporate worship, and resources for personal mission.

Scripture bears witness to this. Each of us has a God given passion for a particular mission. This passion is God’s heart in us made alive.  It is not our job to steer, but to help discover and encourage. We are called to work not from our own strength, but his, and this means using the gifts God gave us.

Why such an emphasis on Gifts?

Ephesians 4:11-13

11. Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

When we work out of gifting, then we are more effective for God and more attractive to others. That is why we think knowing your unique gift is important
